Who We Are
Gloryland Preschool is a state-licensed early childhood education center located in Grayslake, IL. We’re dedicated to nurturing the hearts, minds, and spirits of young children. At the heart of our mission is a deep desire to share the love of Jesus with every child and family who walks through our doors.
We offer classes for children ages 2 through 5. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity, encourage academic growth, and support each child’s unique development.
Gloryland Preschool celebrates and embraces the cultural diversity of our student body. We welcome students of every race, color, national and ethnic origin, and provide equal access to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities available at our school. We are committed to an inclusive learning environment and do not discriminate in the administration of our educational policies, admissions procedures, scholarship programs, or other school-administered activities.

What We Do
Learning the ABCs is more than just reciting letters at Gloryland—it’s a fun and interactive part of our daily routine! Children are immersed in language and letter recognition throughout the day in meaningful, hands-on ways.
Each week, we focus on a “Letter of the Week.” To build a strong home-school connection, children are invited to bring in an item from home that begins with that letter. These special items are placed in our classroom’s letter bucket and shared during circle time, giving each child a chance to participate and learn from one another.
During center time, children explore letters through various hands-on activities, such as building them with manipulatives, tracing, and art projects. Songs, rhymes, and visual aids further reinforce learning in a fun and memorable way.
We proudly use the Learning Without Tears® curriculum to support writing readiness and letter recognition. This developmentally appropriate approach helps children build confidence and foundational skills.
At Gloryland we nurture individual creativity through daily arts and crafts activities. Each day children have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of materials and express themselves in imaginative ways.
Our craft projects are thoughtfully connected to the weekly classroom themes, reinforcing what students are learning while encouraging creative exploration. Children regularly work with paint, clay, glue, tissue paper, stampers, crayons, markers, and watercolors.
We also provide valuable opportunities to develop fine motor skills, such as proper pencil grip and scissor use. As they create, children are not only making art, but they’re building coordination, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning through self-expression.
Our central message is simple and powerful: "Jesus loves me." We strive to share this truth with our children in meaningful, age-appropriate ways each day.
Children learn short prayers to begin the day, give thanks at snack time, and end the day. Through uplifting songs about Jesus and how to treat others with kindness, children grow in both faith and character. Each week teachers share a Bible story in class that aligns with our spiritual and educational themes.
Our older students (ages 3 and 4) also participate in Chapel Time twice a month, which is held in Lord of Glory's sanctuary. These engaging chapel experiences are led by Pastor Brian Davies and members of the Lord of Glory ministry team. They bring Bible stories to life using creative visuals, songs, and interactive storytelling. These special times are a highlight for many of our students.
Each class uses the Concordia Publishing House Bible story curriculum, which is specifically designed to help children understand God’s love and truth in an engaging way.
We understand that strong fine motor skills are essential for early writing, cutting, and everyday independence. That’s why we include fun and purposeful activities in our daily routine to help build strength in little hands. By squeezing playdough, zipping coats, using tweezers for crafts, buttoning clothes on dolls, arranging toy cars, and stacking small blocks, children develop fine motor skills in engaging and playful ways.
We pay close attention to how children do these tasks. During center time, our teachers have one-on-one time to see how children are developing and provide support as needed to help strengthen that pincher grasp.
Music is woven into the fabric of every day at Gloryland. We stream calming classical music to create a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere as children arrive and transition into their classrooms. Teachers incorporate music in both subtle and active ways. Children also have access to a variety of instruments and are encouraged to explore and even create their own.
Each year we select a song of the year that children learn and practice together. Music is a tool for teaching important lessons about kindness, responsibility, self-regulation, and Jesus' love.
Beyond its emotional and spiritual value, music supports cognitive development. Learning rhythm, patterns, and tempo helps build skills that translate into other areas such as language, memory, and motor coordination. And most of all, we recognize that children simply love music, making it a joyful and essential part of our preschool experience.
We love to explore numbers and counting in fun, meaningful ways. Children engage with numbers through songs, stories, games, and daily routines, such as lining up, sorting, or playing at centers.
Whether they’re placing stickers on a number page, counting manipulatives, or organizing pieces for a project, children encounter numbers naturally throughout the day. We also use the Learning Without Tears® curriculum to support number recognition and early math skills.
Each week at Gloryland, children explore a new theme through the use of high-quality children's books. Teachers read aloud daily, books are available in classroom centers, and many activities are inspired by the stories we share. Immersed in print, children begin recognizing some of the 50 most common sight words. We ask questions about story content, characters, and predictions to build comprehension and critical thinking.
Early writing is also a key focus. Children practice drawing, forming letters, and writing their names using both uppercase and lowercase letters. We use the Learning Without Tears® curriculum to support letter and number learning.
